2 month check up

November 24th, 2008 — 1:31pm

Lily’s appointment was supposed to be Dec 1st but it was moved up to today. She did great… for the most part. During most of the appointment she was crying and just didn’t want to be in any position that I tried. So while the Dr and I were talking I was going to set her in her car seat and rock her. Well during the process I hit her head on the handle… oops! Well as you can imagine that did not help. The doctor, knows what I do for a living, told me she was going to turn me in to their social worker :) Anyway, I laid her down so the Dr could do her head to toe exam and she stopped crying and was even smiling. Everything looked great! Lily now weighs 11 pounds and 1 ounce and is 22.5 inches long. She just keeps growing and growing.

We also talked about her favoring turning her head to her left. The doctor checked her out and was able to see that she can turn her head to the right but that the muscles are very tight We were referred to physical therapy and are awaiting that appointment. She said that they will evaluate her and most likely show us how to work with her to loosen the muscles. We’ll keep you updated on that as well.

Finally, Lily got her vaccinations. She had one vaccine that she drank and 3 shots. She drank the vaccine and the tylenol with no problem. I thought she would be a little more picky considering she has never had anything but breast milk, but she didn’t even make faces. The nurse gave Lily 3 shots in her legs. Lily was such a trouper! She would tense up and cry but calmed herself down in between each shot. After all three were band-aided up I was buttoning her outfit. I didn’t even have all of the buttons closed before she had stopped crying. She is just the best!

Her next appointment is around 4 months!

The Holiday Season Begins

November 23rd, 2008 — 9:59pm

I hope that everyone is getting excited about the Holiday Season.  I was watching the news this evening and listened to a short bit done by Andy Rooney and was happy to see that I am not the only person that feels this way.  You can watch his piece at this link  http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2002/11/22/60minutes/rooney/main530555.shtml  I personally love Thanksgiving and am a little upset to see the Christmas lights up and the music starting.  Enjoy the season, but just enjoy it in the right order.

We went to my cousin Chris’ wedding this last weekend; it was a great time and wonderful to see everyone.  My grandparents (my dads parents) came into town from Arizona to make it to the wedding and they stayed with my parents for about a week.  It was nice to get over there and play some cards with everyone we don’t get to do that very often.  We even got to play cards with my Aunt Sandy and Jim one night (also from Arizona).  The weather is starting to cool down, I hope that we get a mild winter this year.  I hope to get my Christmas lights up next weekend, but don’t worry I won’t turn them on until December Wink.

I am going to try and write up or link to an article about Really Simple Syndication or RSS.  It is a really easy way to keep tabs on most of your favorite websites without visiting all the time and it is a great way to keep up on breaking news.  I have our website fully setup to generate RSS feeds that you can use to know when we update our website.  You can choose to monitor just one section (Our Life, Lily’s Pad, Pictures) or monitor any update to our site.  You will be update either in your email or by what ever program you use as a reader.  Look for that article later or go out and research it a little yourself.

I will eventually stop messing with the website, but I do hope that you are enjoying the updates and changes.  This last change makes it really easy for us for us to make updates, so I hope that we get better at keeping this information current.  I will try and give everyone an update after Thanksgiving and if you know me at all you know that I really love Black Friday so I can let you know how I did (unless it involves someone’s Christmas gift.  Until then give us feedback in our new guestbook and please include your email address so that we can make sure that we have everyone’s address.
